Philippe STARCK’S beautiful windmill

eolienne.jpgLast month, at the Green Energy Design show in Milan, Philippe Starck introduced, in conjunction with PRAMAC, his newly designed transparent windmill. The mini wind turbine will be available from 400 euros in September 2008. The plan is to launch it in 6 different sizes that can save a household between 10% and 60% of it’s energy consumption.

I can’t wait to get my hands on this supposedly noiseless windmill. My electricity bills are so high that even if I only save 10% I will have recuperated the cost of the windmill. Plus it looks like a sculpture so nosy neighbours can’t complain. I’m wondering, though, does it hook up to the electricity grid? How easy is it really to set up? All the press releases make it sound like I’ll be able to pick one up at Costco or Target and bang it down on my roof…and voila: Wind energy! Keep an eye out for this one…also what happens if it snows? Tell me more Mr Starck! Or let me try one.

Pretending To Work

I really need to stop pretending to work. I can spend a whole day looking at Ebay and Etsy. Here is my  to do list:

  •  clean up desk
  • pay bills
  • file bills and other documents (they can not be coasters and tablemats forever)
  • find 10 things a week to list on Ebay
  • Stop eating so much chocolate
  • Stop drinking so much white wine
  • Do more Yoga
  • Do more sit ups
  • Make a dentist appointment and actually go.
  • Make a vet appointment
  • Realise that I will never be Heather Armstrong (www.dooce.com creator)
  • Realise that I will never be Paula Radcliffe (winner NYC marathon)

That is enough for now. I’ll be sure to update and let you know which I completed.

Grippy Orange Knives

orange-knives.jpgIt’s time for me to update my knives. Well, my Wüsthof knives are 10 years old and still perfect but I just feel likenew knives. These Gusto Grip Santuko knives by Füri™ won’t get lost in the utensil drawer with their squishy grippy silicone orange handles. God forbid, I just admitted that I keep my knives loose in a drawer. Because, you see, it’s bad to keep them in a drawer because they may rub up to a carrot peeler or a can opener and get dull. These single blade stainless steel chef knives come in two sizes from Sur La Table . The  two knives come in a pretty wood box for $99.95 at  Sur La Table .

Kickapoos from Etsy

kickapoo.jpgAnything ending in “poo” I love. Plus this is a lovely 14 oz mug called Kickapoo you can get on Etsy (I’m so addicted to Etsy’s time machine it’s sad) from JDWolfePottery who divides her time between Jackson, Wyoming and Stoughton, Wisconsin and is married to a guy who makes Howling Wolf Hot Sauce. I’m not sure if I want the mug or the life. $16.00 on Etsy, ships to anywhere.

Avocado Scooper

avocado-scooper.jpg I am not sure that the Rick Bayless Avocado Scooper is of any use to anyone, except, perhaps, the person that already has silicone oven mitts and a very large subzero outfitted kitchen but this little gem will make anyone chuckle. Avocado colored silicone handle, of course, for easy gripping. Priced at $14.95 at Sur La Table . If this doesn’t suit your fancy Sur La Table  is having a 35th anniversary sale so now is the time to stock up on copper sauté pans. Sur La Table ships everywhere in the US and ships everywhere else if you give them a call.
